The Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs has the honour to acknowledge the receipt of His Excellency the British Minister's Memorandum of August 1st on the subject of Mr. Shen Tzu-liang, Agent of the Chinese Telegraph
Administration at Hongkong.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been in consultation with the Ministry of Communications, who se views are that having regard to the fact that Mr. Shen Tzu- liang, the agent of the Chinese Telegraph Administration at Hongkong is an official appointed by the Central Goverment, it is earnestly to be hoped that the Hongkong Government, will do all in their power to protect him, in token of their desire to maintain the friendly relations between the two countries; The Acting Minister for Foreign Affairs has, therefore, the honour to inform His Excellency the British Minister, and to request him again to telegraph to the Hongkong Government to do their utmost to maintain and protect Mr. Shen as Agent of the Chinese Telegraph
Administration.
